Inverse Kinematics is a way of animating in which you determine the end position of a controller to create the desired movement. It acts in the other direction then Forward Kinematics, so it moves the character from the bottom of the hierarchy up. So, for instance to get a character to walk, you animate the endpoint of the foot and Maya determines the way the leg follows to get the walking motion. Of course you can also influence the way in which Maya makes the leg move to get the end position of the foot, but you have less control over it than with Forward Kinematics.

how Writing a MEL script in Maya

As you might have guessed by the title, Mel means Maya Embedded Launguage. Mel is a scripting launguage. This means that you can type a Mel command and execute that command as soon as you hit enter. This differs from a compiled language, a compiled language would require you convert your code into commands the computer understands, and example of this would be a language such as C. Since Mel is a scripting language, it makes Mel extremely fast to use. Unfortunately, this does not eliminate your having to debug your code. Like any programming language debugging will probably be where you spend the bulk of your time.

Select the LHip joint, and then Shift Select the COG joint, now press P to parent the LHip to the COG Joint, a bone will appear between them : - 
Now do the same with the Left_Clavicle and Neck joint, and then again with the first joint on each of the fingers and the thumb and parent to the Left_Hand joint, you'll end up with something like this : -

Ok, we've now set up and parented all of our joints, now there's one last thing to do now before we've finished with the skeleton, and that's to Mirror our Joints from the Left Side over to the Right Side. Select the Left_Clavicle joint and then from the menu select Skeleton > Mirror Joint and open the options box, within the options, select YZ as the Mirror options and Orientation as the Mirror Function : -
Select Mirror, and you should now have the right arm set up, including the parented joint :-

Do the same now for the LHip and then again for the LReverse_Foot, that's it, we now have all of our joints mirrored across. We don't need our Local Rotation Axes displayed anymore, so select each joint one by one, and then issue the command DISPLAY > COMPONENT DISPLAY > LOCAL ROTATION AXIS, or press G to repeat the last command. Once you've done that to all the joints, open up the Outliner. We need to rename our joints that we have mirrored across, essentially we need to differentiate the two sides, so Left and Right is enough to do that, so rename all the mirrored joints so that they are R - Right related, as in

The Channel Box is the primary, fastest, and most streamlined tool for editing object attributes. It lets you quickly set keys, and lock, unlock, or create expressions on attributes.

Like the Attribute Editor, you use the Channel Box to modify an object's attribute values. The Channel Box is different from the Attribute Editor in the following ways:
It displays only the keyable and nonkeyable displayed attributes for the selected object. This lets you easily access nonkeyable channels from the Channel Box without running the risk of accidentally keying them. You can make a channel keyable or nonkeyable from the Channel Box.
You can also make a channel keyable, nonkeyable displayed, or nonkeyable hidden from the Channel Control Editor. See Channel Control Editor in the Keyframe Animation chapter of the Animation guide.
You can change multiple attribute values of multiple objects (see View and edit multiple attributes on multiple nodes)
It takes up much less space in the window.
You can control construction history.
The information displayed in the Channel Box varies, depending on what kind of object or component you have selected. If you haven't selected an object, the Channel Box is blank.
If you've selected two or more objects, the Channel Box displays the attributes for the last object selected only. To display the attributes in the Channel Box of another selected object, select Object > objectName.
Edits you make in the Channel Box affect all selected objects of the same type as the one displayed.
Component attributes
If you display attributes of an object component, the Channel Box displays only one section for shape attributes that pertain to the component.
For example, suppose you've created a NURBS curve with the following CVs:

If you turn on component selection mode (in the main menu bar) and select the CVs, the Channel Box displays this:

You can display the CV values in the Channel Box and enter new values. To display the values, click CVs (click to show) in the Channel Box.
